Alec Kyriakides

Mr Alec Kyriakides was appointed to the ACMSF in 2015. He is the former Head of Product Quality, Safety & Supplier Performance at Sainsbury’s. His responsibilities included the management of specialist teams collectively responsible for the safety and quality management framework for Sainsbury’s products and suppliers. This includes microbiological safety assessment of products, the development and implementation of strategic plans for the management of emerging hazards, and the management of serious incidents. Before joining Sainsbury’s’ in 1992, he held positions with Grand Metropolitan Brewing, Truman’s Brewery, Express Foods Group and Grand Metropolitan Foods. He is a member of a number of industry and government committees and previously sat on the ACMSF for ten years. Mr Kyriakides is the co-author of books on the microbiological safety of foods including Campylobacter, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli and Clostridium botulinum.
