Appointments to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food

The Food Standards Agency Chairman, Heather Hancock has announced the appointment of Dr Gauri Godbole and Mrs Ann Williams to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF). The ACMSF provides the Agency with independent advice on the microbiological safety of food.

New appointments

Dr Gauri Godbole is a Consultant Medical Microbiologist and Parasitologist at the National Infection Service, Public Health England. Since September 2013 she has worked in the Gastrointestinal Bacteria Reference Unit and is the clinical lead for the national Botulism and Helicobacter service for England. She also works at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in the field of Parasitology. Prior to the above appointment she has worked in the field of infection and acute medicine in England and in India. Her term is from 1 August 2017 until 31 March 2021.

Mrs Ann Williams works as commissioning and contracts manager at Liverpool City Council responsible for the local Healthwatch services which is the consumer champion for health and social services. She was previously a Citizens Advice Bureau manager for sixteen years and held regional positions within the National Association of Citizen Advice Bureau and was a lay member on the Alder Hey Hospital ethics committee. Her term is from 1 August 2017 until 31 March 2021.
