ACMSF 50th Meeting Agenda 4 December 2003

The fiftieth meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food will be held at 10.30 am on Thursday 4 December 2003 in Trinity House, Trinity Square, Tower Hill, London EC3. This meeting is open to members of the public.

Members will be invited to approve ACM/MIN/49 (REV.1) as a correct record of the Committee’s 49th meeting

5. Matters arising (ACM/662)
The Secretariat has produced an information paper summarising action taken on points arising from the minutes of previous meetings

6. Avian Influenza (ACM/663)
Members will consider the risk assessment performed by Dr Brown who will introduce ACM/663

7. Annual Report 2003 (ACM/664)
Members will be invited to comment on the draft Annual Report 2003 and the Committee’s forward work programme.

8. Horizon scanning reports (ACM/665 and 666)

  • Members will be invited to consider the reports from the Ad Hoc Groups on Imports (ACM/665) and Newly-Emerging Pathogens (ACM/666). These will be introduced by their respective Chairs (Ms Davies and Professor Hunter).
  • the Chair of the Changing Social Habits Group (Dr Andrews) will provide an oral progress report on the work of that Group.

    9. Listeria (ACM/667)
    The Food Standards Agency will brief Members on the rising trend in human listeriosis and on the recent butter-associated Listeria outbreak

    10. Salmonella (ACM/668)
    The Food Standards Agency will brief Members on the recent increase in Salmonella Enteritidis and an outbreak of S. Bareilly
