ACMSF 49th Meeting Agenda 18 September 2003

The forty-ninth meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food will be held at 10.30 am on Thursday 18 September 2003 in Room 2-4 of the 4th Floor Conference Suite at Aviation House, 125 Kingsway, London, WC2B 6NH. This meeting is open to members of the public.

Members will be invited to approve ACM/MIN/48 (REV.1) as a correct record of the Committee’s 48th meeting

The Secretariat has produced an information paper summarising action taken on points arising from the minutes of previous meetings

6. ACMSF Second Report on Campylobacter (ACM/651)
Members will be invited to comment on the draft Report of the Campylobacter Working Group

7. Mycobacterium bovis in meat (ACM/652)
In January 2002, the ACMSF published the results of its assessment of the human health risks associated with eating meat from M. bovis-infected cattle. Members will consider how the results of a recent Food Standards Agency (FSA)-funded study of M. bovis in salvaged carcasses of reactor cattle impact on the ACMSF risk assessment.

8. Infant botulism : precautions for the processing of baby foods (ACM/653)
Members will consider processing issues and potential risks of infant botulism in relation to certain baby foods

9. Clostridium botulinum : precautions for VP/MAP products (ACM/654)
Members will consider FSA guidance on the safety and shelf-life of vacuum and modified atmosphere packed chilled foods with respect to psychrotrophic Cl. botulinum

10. Avian Influenza risk assessment
Dr Brown will provide an oral progress report on his risk assessment work

11. Raw mushrooms : consumer advice (ACM/655)
Members will consider the continuing need for FSA-advice on the preparation and cooking of raw mushrooms

12. Horizon scanning
The Chairs of the Ad Hoc Groups on Imports and Changing Social Habits will provide oral progress reports on the work of their Groups.
